I am from Manchester, England, UK.
When I was asked by my careers advisor at school what I wanted to be, I told him I wanted to be a tour guide in Borneo, but he told me that it was a stupid idea and would never happen.
'Back In The Day' everybody was saying that computers would be the next BIG THING, so I said "fine, I guess I'll do something involving computers instead".
When I finally finished school I went to college and studied electronics, I.T. and circuit board design, and then worked building and repairing computers for a few years and found I had a hidden talent.
I eventually decided I'd had enough of the insides of computers and went back to college and learned HTML, just after the internet was born, but was still in it's infancy. I started building websites as a hobby for a few years, whilst completing various other I.T. and business related courses at college.
I got as far as HTML could take me, and as the internet was now starting to go dynamic, I went back to college and learned C and Java programming, with the intention of becoming a Java Applet designer.
Around this time, I took a job with a friend as a programmer, building websites (again). The job involved no Java programming, but I taught myself both ASP and PHP programming languages and went on to code various types of dynamic web applications during that time.
My circumstances changed and I swapped professions completely, turning my hand to a bit of sales and telemarketing. I started off selling life insurance for AIG and then mobile phone upgrades and services for Vodafone (a major UK mobile phone company).
I very quickly realised that I was actually best suited to an online rather than on-phone life, and since then have studied many forms of internet marketing and found something which I love and have a real dedication and passion for. |
